While you were at Sewing Summit

I've loved seeing all the twitter activity around #sewingsummit this past weekend! I couldn't make it because I went to Northern California for a wedding. It was a beautiful evening and really fun to dress up and go out without our kids! Afterwards my husband and I stayed an extra day to drive over the Golden Gate bridge into wine country. I wanted to share some photos with you:

Napa and Sonoma hold a special place in my heart because this is where my husband and I spent our honeymoon. Having just been to another wedding it was romantic for us to end our trip here.

This trip was a special treat because it was the first time we've been during harvest season. While lots of people are enjoying pumpkins and apples this time of year, wine country is ripe with grapes!

I loved seeing fall everywhere, in the colors, the smells, its just really a beautiful time of year.

The REAL reason I love Napa isn't for the wine (in fact, the past several times we've been I haven't tasted wine because I've either been pregnant or nursing) actually it's for the food! There are so many excellent restaurants and chefs here, visiting wineries is just how we pass the time while we wait for the next meal.

There are so many other products grown in this region aside from grapes, it's amazing. This pic is from Oakville Grocery, who only carries food made in California, and mostly things grown and made locally in Napa Valley.

I normally don't eat chocolate first thing in the morning, but I had to get a bouchon with my latte at Bouchon Bakery. They are small brownie bites made with rich chocolate and chocolate chips.

This appetizer was the best thing I ate during this trip, the Mozzarella al minuto at Tra Vigne. The cheese is made to order, literally made from curd and served to you super fresh. The dish is so simple, served on bruschetta with really good olive oil and a side of heirloom tomatoes drizzled with balsamic vinegar. Trying this I'm not sure how I'll ever be able to buy mozzarella at the market again.

  1. Your pictures are beautiful! I love finding fun places to eat while travelling. I'm starving right now and that last picture looks heavenly!
