I fell in love with this crossword print fabric (from Bungle Jungle by Tim and Beck for Moda) and had the idea of creating a needle keep cushion where I could separate my needles by type and size with it. So I started by filling the crossword puzzle with "Quilt" "Bind" and "Embroider" - which are the types of sewing needles I use most often - but I felt it was still bare so I added "Sew" and "Love".
In addition to being able to separate my quilting needles from my embroidery needles, the print also has numbered boxes on it for the crosswords which happen to correspond to the most common needle sizes. So I can put #11 size needles in its own box separate from #14 size needles. No more straining with light or a magnifying glass to try to find the right size needle.
Sometimes it's the little things that make you so very happy.
How do you manage all your needles?

Such a smart idea! I am not a sewer so had no idea there was so many different sizes of needles.
ReplyDeleteGlad you were able to attend the SoCal Social too
That is so cute and clever!! Mine are just all over the place - this would be such a sweet way to organize them!
ReplyDeleteLove the idea! So far I only have a dedicated spot for discarded needles- a vintage, metal, cigarette case. I feel inspired to organize my working needles too!! Thanks!
ReplyDeleteThis is adorable, and so creative! All of my needles are just in a felt needlebook, jumbled up together. I just eyeball what kind I've got when I work on a project-- certainly not the most organized!
ReplyDeleteThat is a great idea! I've been keeping them in their little cases as best as I can but it looks a bit messy.
